Challenge

The existing in-house Pavement Management System (PMS) at the Yukon Transportation Division was comprised of Oracle tables and an MSAccess interface. It stored road asset inventory data for surface treated, paved, and gravel routes. Pavement management related analyses was performed externally using spreadsheets. The system required significant updates, further customization and dedicated in-house programming, with little opportunity for future enhancement.

Solution

Yukon Transportation chose dTIMS for their new PMS. dTIMS provided the TD with a robust alternative to their in-house system. It including the ability to: quickly and efficiently retrieve and review road inventory and condition information, visualize spatial data, and perform advanced asset management functions to evaluate, and optimize road rehabilitation and maintenance options against varying constraints.

Results

The new dTIMS PMS enables Yukon to retrieve and review road inventory and condition information, visualize spatial data, and perform advanced asset management functions to evaluate and optimize road rehabilitation and maintenance options against varying constraints. Yukon will be adding additional assets in the near future to turn the dTIMS PMS into an AMS.
