Challenge

The Australian Road network is unique from many other regions in the world. Due to the country's size, dispersed population and remote production centers, infrastructure is vital. In most cases infrastructure management responsibilities lie within many smaller, local governments (LGs) that lack the resources and funding of larger regions. In addition, maintenance expenditure for local governments has not kept pace with growth.

Solution

As a solution to these challenges, Talis established a dTIMS hosted system for Western Australia LGs that provided a robust software solution coupled with Talis’ asset management expertise.

Talis receives data from an LG through discovery workshops, current data or performing the data collection process. The data is filtered and the dTIMS database is developed and populated.

dTIMS Analysis is set up and budget scenarios are optimized by validating field results and tweeking deterioration curves and treatment riggers. Finally, the work is published for the LG to manage construction activities.

The dTIMS model has given us the opportunity to strategically plan for our network, whilst meeting the expectations of our community, all within the constraints of our budgets.

Results

Establishing a dTIMS Bureau Service can benefit LGs anywhere because they provide effective results with limited funding. Your LG acquires specialized dTIMS personnel to help in every step of your asset management journey. They are in touch with the latest trends and technologies and can offer support should you need resources. This leaves you free to concentrate on the things your LG does the best.
