Challenge
There were several challenges faced by the implementation team, including:
- Change from SaaP to SaaS implementation
- Switched to automated data collection
- Use of distress data from automated condition survey
- Development of PMS for concrete pavements was not something GDOT had much experience in
- Multiple versions of GDOT's Location Reference System
Solution
Implementation of dTIMS for Pavement Management. This would enable development of long-term strategies, support life-cycle planning and inform selection of treatments for delivery within a short-term program.
Arcadis and Deighton implemented dTIMS and the team provided GDOT with support and direction based on its extensive asset management experience. This ensured configuration of the PMS in accordance with global best practice. As part of this project, the team provided the following services:
Review and comment of the GDOT PMS specification documentation
Provision of technical engineering and strategic asset management consulting advice through workshops, training, reports and meetings
Configuration and population of the dTIMS asset management platform in accordance with GDOT specifications
Ongoing SaaS operation
Execution of network analysis and review of dTIMS recommendations with GDOT
Documentation of dTIMS setup, operation and maintenance.
Results
dTIMS was implemented successfully in a SaaS environment at GDOT. Staff have been trained and are currently using dTIMS to support the life cycle planning of their pavement network. Future work will involve integration with GDOTs ESRI Roads and Highways application.
