The Road to dTIMS V9
Thursday, February 02, 2012
dTIMS CT has been Deighton’s flagship product for over 25 years and during this time Deighton has released multiple versions. With each new release dTIMS CT’s popularity has grown worldwide and is now utilized to manage large networks in Africa, Asia, Australia, Canada, Europe, New Zealand, and the United States.
Deighton is excited to announce our latest version release, V9. What makes V9 unique from other releases is not only the look and functionality, but also the approach in which our development team has taken towards creating this new release.
The objective while developing dTIMS V9 was to re-develop the superior technology and functionality that our users have come accustomed to while improving on the user experience. Deighton has come to recognized that within many of the agencies where our software is used there are two types of users; a power user and the casual user. Historically dTIMS CT has catered more towards the power user, and as a result of this dTIMS CT would often be described as a
very powerful but cumbersome tool.
In addition to developing dTIMS V9 to be a more user friendly software application, we have also decided on using a common architecture for both Deighton’s MM and CT product. We believe that the integration of pavement management and maintenance management will allow for significant synergies through the natural sharing of information through a unified database in terms of the spatial mapping of data, data querying and the management of the asset inventory.
Ultimately dTIMS V9 was designed to be a truly complete asset management software product, which not only provides the answers a user requires, but most importantly provides it in a more visual and efficient way.
The above mentioned features are only two which will be included in V9. V9 in its entirety will be released during DUC 2012. Deighton looks forward to demonstrating all new functionalities as well as receiving input during DUC 2012.

Hi Rob, some specific appetiser would add value to the blog. The same text could be applied to a number of software products, can you give us anything more specific?Rob DeSanti commented on 10-Feb-2012 12:36 PM
Thanks for the comment Peter. It’s great to see the interest in our unveiling of V9. In keeping with our vision to improve our users experience, V9 will include spatial referencing. This provides the user the ability to communicate more effectively with
their internal GIS, resulting in the ability to work with their data on a map giving them a more visual representation of their network. In addition to spatial referencing V9 will also be a fully integrated MM and PM system, both from a database and a UI perspective. The above mentioned features are only two which will be included in V9. V9 in its entirety will be released during DUC 2012. Deighton looks forward to demonstrating all new functionalities as well as receiving input during DUC 2012.
